The Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington mission proclaims a “duty to serve the most vulnerable of God’s people.” Catholic Charities provides transformative services that offer hope and healing to those that operate in the peripheries of society – especially those in isolation and poverty.
An abortion clinic was closed down, members of the community bought the facility and approached Catholic Charities to see if we could offer a service of hope and transformation. Thus, Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic emerged.
Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic, a fruit of the Year of Mercy, and named for the maternal care that the Church provides, will fill a gap for an estimated 4,500 residents in low income households without insurance in the Manassas and Manassas Park area.
The clinic will not charge clients receiving basic medical care they could not otherwise obtain. All of the doctors and nurses who will work at the free clinic will volunteer their time to provide this free medical care.
The free clinic will also be a portal toward other necessary integrated services that Catholic Charities provides, such as: counseling, emergency financial and food assistance, and referrals for workforce development and immigration support.
Dr. Scott Ross, a deacon serving Holy Trinity Parish in nearby Gainesville, will be the volunteer medical director of the clinic. Dr. Ross is also a family physician with the Novant Health UVA Health System (Novant). Novant will also partner with Catholic Charities to provide low cost medical services for qualifying individuals.
Serving Western Prince William County, Manassas City and Manassas Park residents in low-income households without health insurance, this clinic opened its doors December 6, 2017. For more information regarding
