Serve Those in Need

Volunteer at the Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic

We live Christ's command to heal the sick by providing free quality healthcare to low-income individuals who are uninsured or under-insured. More than 180 volunteers, primarily medical professionals, staff our Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic

Serving the most vulnerable of God’s people

Our mission at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington, emphasizes our Christian “duty to serve the most vulnerable of God’s people.”  As a Catholic organization, we seek to offer vulnerable people integrated services that address the needs of whole person.

Our Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic, which opened in 2017, serves an estimated 4,500 low-income people without health insurance in Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County. The free clinic primarily serves adults since children in low-income families can often receive medical insurance through Medicaid.

Our Volunteer Staff

The clinic is able to serve a variety of health issues with its 180-plus volunteer medical staff which includes:

  • primary care physicians
  • nurse practitioners
  • cardiologists
  • pulmonologist
  • orthopedic doctor
  • chiropractor
  • pharmacist
  • physical therapist
  • respiratory therapist
  • phlebotomist
  • dietician
  • nurses
  • medical assistants

Beginning in early 2019, the clinic –which is housed in the same space once occupied by an abortion center – will begin offering pregnant mothers prenatal care. In addition, Catholic Charities will begin offering mental health counseling, pregnancy and adoption services, emergency food assistance, financial literacy and other education courses in an adjacent office space. Both offices are housed in space owned by the BVM (Blessed Virgin Mary) Foundation, which purchased the spaces, including the shuttered abortion center, and leased them to Catholic Charities.

Our Director

Dr. Scott Ross, a deacon serving Holy Trinity Parish in nearby Gainesville, serves as the volunteer medical director of the clinic. Dr. Ross is also a family physician with the Novant Health UVA Health System (Novant). Novant partners with Catholic Charities to provide low cost medical services for qualifying individuals.
