Catholic Charities is Offering Emergency Aid to Federal Contractors Affected by Furlough

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington is providing emergency financial aid for rent and utilities to federal government contractors who live in the Diocese of Arlington and were affected by the recent partial government shutdown.

Federal government employees who were furloughed will receive back pay and therefore are not eligible for this assistance at this time.

Financial assistance will be available for rent and utility payments up to $500. All payments will be made directly to the landlord or property management company, or utility company. To receive assistance, contractors must schedule a 30-minute appointment by calling Catholic Charities at 703-841-3830 or emailing info@ccda.net and a scheduler will call back to set up the appointment. Eligibility and criteria for assistance is available on the Catholic Charities website.

Contactors must Catholic Charities to schedule an appointment to apply for aid.

Dates and locations where assistance will be provided are:

  • Friday, Feb. 1 and 8 and Saturday, Feb. 2 and 9, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 5 and 12, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
