Feeding the Hungry, Nourishing the Soul

Almost a quarter of a million people in the Arlington Diocese are food insecure, meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. As a Catholic response to the hunger and food insecurity in our Diocese, Catholic Charities conducts a diocesan-wide outreach to collect and distribute food where it is most needed through the St. Lucy Project.

St. Lucy Food Project

Catholic Charities believes passionately in a future without hunger.  To respond to our neighbors in need, we operate the St. Lucy Project to connect food resources with local pantries that distribute food directly to their neighbors. Click here to see our map showing our partnerships with parishes and local food pantries.

If you are in need of food, please visit a pantry operated by the St. Lucy Food Project or call us at one of our offices shown below and we will help you find a pantry near you.

*Each partner pantry operates under its own eligibility guidelines. Please contact each pantry individually to determine its hours of service and whether they can help you.

Evening Meal

Catholic Charities offers a warm meal every night of the year to homeless and low-income residents of Alexandria and the surrounding communities. The Evening Meal at Christ House in Alexandria offers a nutritious meal, companionship and spiritual care.  If you need help locating additional resources, please talk to a staff member for help.  Join us for dinner--please arrive by 5:30 pm in order to reserve a seat!
