Statement by Stephen Carattini, Catholic Charities President and CEO
On National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month and we are given the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the thousands of volunteers who join with us to bring the love and consolation of God to the poor and vulnerable in our Diocese.

These dedicated volunteers fill critical roles throughout our agency. In spite of the pandemic, they continued to provide healthcare to the sick, collect and distribute food to the hungry, welcome refugees and migrants to new homes, minister to those in prison, and serve those seeking a better education or job skills.

Quite simply, without our volunteers, we would not be able to fulfill our mission.  We are incredibly grateful for their gifts of time and talent as we welcome, integrate, promote, and protect all in our care.

As St. Paul wrote, our volunteers are truly, “ambassadors for Christ.”
