A Baccalaureate degree in accounting, management or a related field and 8 years post graduate experience in budget development and management is required. Position Description
Job Title: Program Coordinator for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Catholic Campaign for Human Development
(CCHD) in the Diocese of Arlington
Reports Directly to: Diocesan Director of CRS and CCHD
Position: Part-Time 20-25 hours per week, including regular evening and weekend meetings/events
General Description: The Program Coordinator for CRS and CCHD will assist the Diocesan Director in advancing the mission, vision and programs of both Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Campaign for Human Development in the Arlington Diocese. The goal is to connect and engage the Catholic community in the Arlington Diocese with the work of the Catholic Church nationally and internationally, through CCHD and CRS programs.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director with recruitment, orientation and training of CRS/CCHD Diocesan Committee members and other project volunteers.
- Attend CRS/CCHD Diocesan Committee and Sub-committee meetings; provide administrative coordination and support.
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of programs and project activities of CRS and CCHD in the diocese. Programs would include Fair Trade, Operation Rice Bowl (ORB), CRS Speaker Tours, Campaign to End Global Poverty, CCHD local grant program and Journey to Justice.
- Work with parish and diocesan personnel and the CRS/CCHD Education Sub-committee to provide education about the Church’s teaching on domestic and international poverty and Catholic Social Teaching using CCHD and CRS materials.
- Solicit local ORB and CCHD grant applications and set up systems for Diocesan Director, Allocations Sub-committee and the Bishop of Arlington to review and evaluate them. Maintain ongoing communication with current and potential grant applicants.
- Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system for progress reports from CCHD and ORB local grant recipients. Review grantee budget materials and ensure that funding was spent according to guidelines.
- With the assistance of the Promotions Sub-committee, review CCHD and ORB collection reports and develop a plan for increasing collection amounts.
- Network with various diocesan offices/ministries to advance the work of both CRS and CCHD. These offices would include the Pontifical Mission Society/Propagation of the Faith; Migration and Refugee Services; Pro-Life Office; Multi-Cultural Ministry Office; Office of Catholic Schools and Youth Ministry Office.
- Represent CRS and CCHD at parish and diocesan events with exhibits, workshops and public speaking.
- Assist with building parish relationships to help strengthen the works of CRS and CCHD at the parish level.
- Help coordinate the Diocesan response to both national and international emergencies and natural disasters.
Basic Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or commiserate work experience.
- Commitment to the Teachings of the Catholic Church; good working knowledge of the social doctrine of the Church as expressed in scripture and in papal, conciliar and Episcopal documents.
- Commitment to engaging Catholics in the social mission of the Church.
- Familiarity with Church structures; proven ability to work successfully with a broad range of people.
- Demonstrated understanding of community organizing, economic development and social justice education.
- Excellent networking and communication (oral and written) skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
- Proven organizational abilities; adept at multi-tasking.
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office suite.
